In this video, I build a custom bass reflex speaker enclosure entirely designed by AI – from the internal volume and port tuning to the overall dimensions for optimal performance!
At the heart of this project is the excellent Visaton FR 10 HM – a compact 4" full-range driver 4 ohm version, known for its clear highs thanks to the integrated tweeter cone, solid midrange, and surprisingly punchy bass when paired with the right cabinet.
I added custom 3D-printed anti-vibration feet to isolate the speaker from the surface, reducing unwanted resonances and improving clarity. Plus, a precisely tuned bass reflex port (also 3D-printable) for extended low-end response.

Project Overview
• Driver: Visaton FR 10 HM - 4 Ω (4-inch full-range, direct connection – no crossover).
• Enclosure type: Bass reflex.
• External dimensions: 170 mm width × 250 mm depth × 350 mm height.
• Internal net volume: ≈10 litres (ideal for this driver).
• Materials:
◦ Body (sides, top, bottom, rear): 15 mm MDF.
◦ Front baffle: 15 mm plywood/multilayer (poplar or birch).
• Bass reflex port: Rear panel, centred low.
Diameter: 40 mm, length: 15 cm (flared on both ends recommended to minimise turbulence). Tuning frequency Fb ≈75 Hz → useful bass extension down to ~70 Hz in-room.

• Damping:
◦ 5 mm car damping mat applied to internal panel surfaces (including rear of baffle).
◦ Dacron, polyfill or similar polyester filling (80 g total, loosely distributed).
• Driver mounting:
◦ Preferably flush mount (rebated 2-4 mm deep for perfect alignment).
◦ Alternative: surface mount (slightly protruding).
◦ Position: centred horizontally; centre of driver 135 mm from the top edge of the baffle.
