Jerry Goldsmith's main title sequence for Star Trek Nemesis begins with expansive synth drones on top of which a trumpet and flute outline and resolve augmented triads. One would think these melodic fragments important as they're featured so prominently at the top of the film, yet they reappear only once more during the following cue, "The Box".

Alexander Courage's fanfare makes a mandatory appearance with some artful harmonizations on the presentation of the Star Trek title, followed by the score's first statement of the barbaric and sinister Reman Theme during the push past Remus to Romulus. The motif on which this theme is constructed, with its striking rhythmic profile and descending melodic contour, forms the basis of many of the film's later action cues. This Reman Theme can also be thought of as a variation of the film's more melancholy Main Theme, which is yet to appear.
