Où habitaient les citoyens romains? Villa, domus, insula

Lorsque l'on pense aux habitations dans la Rome antique, la première chose qui vient à l'esprit est une grande maison de campagne, la villa. Pourtant, la plupart des citoyens romains ne vivaient pas dans des villas, mais dans des "insulae", des blocs d'habitation qui comptaient jusqu'à sept étages. Seuls les Romains les plus fortunés vivaient dans des domus, des villas urbaines, et seuls les super-riches possédaient une villa de campagne.
