මේ සංචාරය අපි දින දෙකක් තුල කරපු සංචාරයක් ඒහි පලමු කොටස තමයි මේ . අපි ගමන පටන් ගත්තේ සී පෝත් මාර්ගයෙන් . හල්ගොල්ල පහුකරලා අපි සී පෝත් මාර්ගය දිගේ ඉහලට ඒන කොට තමයි අපිට ඔ්ලු ඇල්ල හමුවෙන්නේ අපි ඇත්තටම ඔිලු ඇල්ල ලග නතර වුනේ නැහැ. අපි යන වේවැල්තලාවට යන්න පරක්කු වෙන නිසා. ගොඩක් අය මේ තැනට වෙිවැල්තලාව කියලත් කියනවා වෑවියතලාව කියලත් කියනවා.
ඉතින් අපි අමනාවෙල පහුකරලා ආවා Olu Ella Jungle Resort - 0710791316 ඒකට. අද රාත්රි නවාතැන් ගන්නේ අපි මෙතන . ඉතින් Resort හිමිකාර තුමා වන කුමාර මහත්තයත් ඒක්ක තමයි අපි මේ ගමන මෙතන ඉදන් ඉහලට යන්නේ .
අපි පහල පැලන්පිටිය පහු කරලා තවත් කිලෝමිටර් කිහිපයක් ගියාම තමයි අපිට මුන ගැහෙන්නේ නාගස්තැන්න වතුයාය . ඉතින් මේ නාගස්තැන්න වතුයාය ආරම්භ වෙන ඒකත් ඒක්ක තමයි කන්ඩල් ඹය වතුයායට යන්න තියෙන මාර්ගය ආරම්භ වන්නේ .
අපි කි.මී. 13 ක් විතර ඉහලට ඒන්න ඇති කන්ඩල් ඹය වතුයාය කියන්නේ මාරම ලස්සන පලාතක් ඇත්තටම සංචාරකයෝ අඩු වෙන්ම ඒන පැත්තක් ඒ්ක වෙනම ලෝකයක් . කන්ඩල් ඹයෙන් පස්සේ අපිට මුන ගැහෙන්නේ පැන්ඩික් වතු යාය ඉන්පස්සේ තමයි මේ ගමනේ අපිට හමුවන අවසාන ගෙදර මුන ගැහෙන්නේ .මේ හරියට විදුලිය ඇත්තේම නැහැ පාරත් වාහන ගිහින් අඩු නිසා කැලේ වැවිලා.
අවසාන ගෙදරින් පස්සේ අපිට කැලේ ඇතුලෙන් මිටර් 300 ක් විතර ගමන් කරන්න තියෙනවා ඒ් හරියෙත් සමහර තැන් වල කැලේ වැවිලා . මේ මාර්ගය ඉස්සර හොදට තිබුන පාරක් වෑවියතලාව පැත්තේ අය නාවලපිටිය පැත්තට ගිහින් තියෙන්නෙත් මේ පාර දිගේ . දැන් හල්ගොල්ල පැත්තේන් ඒන පාර අවහිර වුනොත් මේ පාර බාවිතා කරනවා කියලා තමයි දැන ගන්න ලැබුනේ .
කැලේ ඇතුලෙන් ඇවිත් අපි වෑවියතලාව පැත්තෙන් ඒන පාරට වැටුනා ඒතන ඉදන් තවත් කිලෝමිටරයක් විතර ඉහලට ගියාම තමයි ස්වාධීන රූපවාහිනියේ විකාශන කුලුණ මුන ගැහෙන්නේ. මෙතන මුහුදු මට්ටමේ ඉදන් මිටර් 1280 ක් විතර උසයි. මේ තමයි ලංකාවේ පලමු රූපවාහිනියේ විකාශණ කුලුන. ඒ් වගේම මෙතන ශ්රී ලංකා ගුවන් විදුලි සංස්ථාවේ විකාශණ කුලුනත් තියෙනවා .ඉස්සර දෙවන ලෝක යුද සමයේ රේඩාර් ඒක සවිකරලා තියෙන්නේත් මෙතන තමයි . කොළම නගරය .වරාය . ගුවන්තොටුපල කටුනායක වගේ තැන් මෙතනට දැක බලා ගන්න පුලුවන් . ඒ් වගේම හ්රි පාදස්ථානයත් මෙතනට දකින්න පුලුවන් .
ඉන්පස්සේ අපි වෑවියතලාව පැත්තට ඇවිත් අම්පාන view point නතර වෙලා තේ ඒකක් ඒහෙම බිලා ආපසු ඒන්න පිටත් වුනා. මේ ගමනේ අපිට ඉහල පැලැන්පිටිය view point ඒක දොලොස්භාගේ කදු . රාස්සගල වගේ තැනුත් දැක බලා ගන්න පුලුවන් .
This adventure was a two-day overland journey, and this is Part 01 of our trip.
We started our journey via the Sea Forth road, passing Halgolla and driving uphill along the Sea Forth route. On the way, we came across Olu Ella Waterfall. However, we didn’t stop there because we were running late to reach Wewalthalawa. Interestingly, many people refer to this area as both Wewalthalawa and Wewiyathalawa.
After passing Amanawala, we arrived at Olu Ella Jungle Resort (Contact: 0710791316 – Mr. Kumara). This is where we stayed for the night. Together with the resort owner, Mr. Kumara, we planned to continue our journey further uphill from this point. After enjoying the welcome drink provided by the hotel, we set off for the real adventure.
Passing Palanpitiya, and traveling a few more kilometers, we reached the beautiful Nagasthanna Estate. From the beginning of Nagasthanna Estate, the road to Kandal Oya Estate starts.
After climbing approximately 13 km uphill, we reached Kandal Oya Estate — truly a breathtaking location and a hidden paradise rarely visited by tourists. It feels like entering a completely different world. After Kandal Oya, we came across Pendik Estate, and beyond that lies the last house on this route. This area has no electricity, and since vehicles rarely travel this road, much of it is overgrown by jungle.
After the last house, we had to travel about 300 meters through the middle of the Amipana Reserve. Some sections of the path are heavily overgrown. In the past, this used to be a well-maintained road. People from the Wewiyathalawa side used this route to travel towards Nawalapitiya. We learned that if the road from the Halgolla side becomes blocked, this route is still occasionally used.
Emerging from the forest, we connected to the road coming from the Wewiyathalawa side. After climbing another kilometer uphill, we reached the transmission tower of the Independent Television Network (ITN) Sri Lanka. This location stands approximately 1,280 meters above sea level. This is the site of Sri Lanka’s first television transmission tower. Additionally, the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) transmission tower is also located here. During World War II, a radar system had been installed at this very location.
From here, you can see Colombo city, the Colombo Port, Bandaranaike International Airport Katunayake, and even Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) on a clear day.
After that, we returned towards the Wewiyathalawa side and stopped at Ampana View Point for a relaxing cup of tea before heading back.
During this journey, we were also able to witness breathtaking views such as the Upper Palanpitiya View Point, the Dolosbage Mountain Range, and Rassagala, making this adventure truly unforgettable.
