Is this the MOST BEAUTIFUL place in New Zealand? Abel Tasman National Park: NZ Ep5 vlog

We drove from the lovely Mapua to Kaiteriteri so that we could explore the Abel Tasman National Park.

We caught the Sea Shuttle, piloted by Michael, to Anchorage. It takes about 45mins to get to the bay but they stop along the way to point out some interesting spots, including Split Apple Rock and Adele Island (not named after the singer, Adele!) We were delighted to see Fur Seals and their seal pups.

We walked the Pitt Head Lookout loop to Te Puketea Bay. It was BEAUTIFUL and so quiet too. The only sounds we heard were the birdsong of tui birds (which we thought reminded us of R2-D2!) and the quiet lapping of the sea.

We stopped for a picnic lunch of pies bought from Kaiteriterots at the launch point. We had Hoi Sin pork and buttered chicken and they were delish!

We had a cheeky peek inside the bug box installed by students from Waimea College. It was quite a shock!

When we returned to Anchorage Bay, we made friends with some ducks and met our first Weka. Weka birds are brilliant and very inquisitive so the NZ Department of Conservation encourage you look after your belongings in case wekas steal them!

The return ferry got us back to Little Kaiteriteri as it was low tide but it was just a short walk back to the car park.

We were advised to make this trip by the owners of the B&B that we stayed at in Mapua.
