Madan Mohan Temple
The “Madan Mohan Temple” built by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan in 1885-1887 is one of the best places to visit in Cooch Behar. Which you must visit during your Rajbari visit. This temple is mainly dedicated to Madan Mohan. But along with Madan Mohan, the idol of Tara Maa, Kali Maa and Maa Bhavani is also installed in the temple, which remains the center of faith for the devotees.
Sagardihi
Sagardihi is a huge pond situated in the middle of the city. It was built by Maharaja Hitendra Narayan. Sagardihi is one of the famous tourist places in Cooch Behar. Where tourists often visiting Cooch Behar come here to spend some time. Sagardihi is surrounded by a heritage hotel, Victor House and a war memorial surrounded by beautiful galleries. You can also take some time out to visit Sagardihi.
Baneswar Siva Temple
Situated at a distance of 10 km from the city centre, “Baneshwar Shiv Mandir” is one of the famous temple of Cooch Behar. A 10 feet tall Shivling is installed in the temple. Which is the center of attraction for the devotees and tourists. The idol of Ardhanarishvara is also installed in this temple. Due to which the temple is also known as Ardhanarishwar Temple. There is also a pond in the temple premises in which you can see different species of turtles.
Rajbari Cooch Behar Palace
Rajbari Cooch Behar Palace is also known as Victor Jubilee Palace which is in West Bengal. It was established in the year 1887 during the reign of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. The palace shows the acceptance of European idealism of the cooch kings and the fact that they had embraced European culture without denouncing their Indian heritage. The architecture of Rajbari or Cooch Behar Palace is a grand monument built in the Italian Renaissance form. The monument is spread over an area of 51,000 square feet. and is 390 feet long and 296 feet wide. The monument stands 125 feet above the ground and has an entrance with a projected porch on the ground floor. He heads towards the Durbar Hall. There are more than 50 rooms in the palace. It includes bedroom, dressing room, billiard room, kitchen, dining hall, dancing hall, library, Tosha Khan, museum and ladies gallery.
Coochbehar museum
Its a new museum at Coochbehar. Its attached with Coochbehar railway station. Please visit the museum to see the history of railway at Coochbehar.Amazing antique collection of Railway goods of Historic Coochbehar State Railways. A must visit for all Rail Enthusiasts.
