Soft Drinks and Sugar

Описание к видео Soft Drinks and Sugar

Biology experiment for students from 10-12 years old. Unit: Human Nutrition.
Drinks like cola or lemonade are also called soft drinks. Soft drinks are mostly made up of water and sugar. They also have a little amount of gas, colorants, and flavorings which give each drink their peculiar color and taste. Actually, even the sugar-free soft drinks contain a small amount of sugar.
This Science Bits experiment measure and compare the amount of sugar in a soft drink and a diet (or sugar-free) soft drink.

Experiment: To isolate the sugar found in a soft drink we need to bring them to a boil and wait for all the water to evaporate. The sugar will be left on the bottom of the beaker.

Activity: This experiment is part of a self-corrected activity that works these learning objectives:
- Discover that soft drinks have very high sugar contents.
- Know and understand the experimental procedure to measure the amount of sugar present in soft drinks.
- Carry out simple calculations of direct proportionality.
