Findings from the TOPAZ-1 trial (NCT03875235) has established that corticosteroids negatively impact patients with biliary tract cancer (BTC). Federica Lo Prinzi, MD, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio- Medico, Rome, Italy, gives an overview of a large international real-world analysis evaluating the impact of concomitant medications on patients with advanced biliary tract cancers (BTCs). The study confirmed that patients receiving corticosteroids prior to therapy experienced shorter survival compared with those who did not, while no major differences were observed in response rates or safety. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2025 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
