Walking this beautiful stretch of the west highland way isn't without its challenges, including weather conditions, navigating the terrain, and ensuring you have the right gear. The Scottish weather can be quite unpredictable, and we experienced our fair share of sudden rain showers and misty mornings. It's essential to be prepared with waterproof gear and a good understanding of the terrain.
The terrain on this section is varied, with a mix of forest walks, river crossings, and hill climbs. It's also crucial to pack the right gear, including comfortable hiking boots/trainers, layers for changing weather conditions, and a backpack with plenty of storage.
Another challenge is physical conditioning – this section can be quite demanding, with some steep inclines and long distances. We’ve been training for months to build up our endurance, but we know that it's still going to be a tough hike.
I'll take you through the stunning sights, including the iconic landscapes, and fascinating history that make this part of the West Highland Way truly special.
