Hiking 22 Miles Along the Catskills Escarpment - Great American Hikes Ep 4

Описание к видео Hiking 22 Miles Along the Catskills Escarpment - Great American Hikes Ep 4

With nearly 30 overlooks, fantastic camp spots, and the tallest waterfall in the State of New York, The Escarpment Trail packs a lot in its short 22 mile length. We hiked it in May of 2021 going from West to East. On day 1 we left Jon's car at the Elm Ridge Parking Area before beginning the trail. We ascended Windham High Peak and hiked along the escarpment before camping the night near the Batavia Kill Lean-to. On day 2 we climbed Black Head Mountain, grabbed water in Dutcher Notch, passed by a plane crash, and camped the night on North Mountain at an amazing spot that overlooked the Hudson River. On our last day we passed by many overlooks including Newmans Ledge, Sunset Rock, and Artists Rock. We would also pass by the site of the old Caskills Mountain House and finished the hike at Kaaterskill Falls, the highest waterfall in the State of New York.
