He was a man of few words, so when he did speak his words were not wasteful He loved her, uncomplex, uncluttered, the purest kind
The way he held her forearm, the way he lay with his head in her lap Unsentimental
She was a woman of few words, even her footsteps barely made a sound She spoke mostly with her eyes
He spoke with his care
Theirs was a quiet love
He entered the room removing his hat and walked towards her
The worry lived on his shoulders and the space between his brow
"I'm scared" she said
"Me too" he wanted to say
But instead he wiped away the tears from her face and with the other hand he wiped away his own
What if it only has weight when it's fought for?
What if needs to be won?
What if the waves must come to test the depths of the root? What if quietness isn't doubt
What if quietness is resolute?
