The activists are expressing their dissatisfaction with the scheme, claiming that it is primarily a cash cow for the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, rather than a genuine effort to reduce pollution. Conservative MP for Sutton and Cheam, Paul Scully, joined the discussion to share his perspective on the issue.

Scully explained that the protest has been ongoing for months, with individuals expressing their opposition to the ULEZ expansion to outer London. The activists, known as "Blade Runners," have been temporarily blocking the cameras in Sutton to raise awareness and voice their concerns. Scully emphasized that while he does not condone criminal damage, he believes this form of protest is fair and necessary to draw attention to the problems with the ULEZ scheme.

One of the main grievances expressed by the activists is the placement of ULEZ cameras near important institutions like the Royal Marsden Hospital, which treats cancer patients from around the world. Scully criticized the Mayor for subjecting individuals visiting the hospital to fines as soon as they enter the ULEZ zone. He argued that this lack of consideration for vulnerable groups is disappointing and highlights the flaws in the scheme.
