THE TRAPPER KNIFE Episode 185 The trapper knife is defined as a Jack Knife with full-length clip and spey blades. The Light Trapper (serpentine design) was introduced before World War 1. The Standard Trapper (center-swell design) was introduced around the 1920's. Mini Trappers are compact designed (both standard and light patterns) and were introduced in the 1970's. There are also Premium Trappers, Large Trappers, Double End Trappers, and single blade Slimline Trappers. They were made by many companies and had many handle materials like: genuine stag, pearl, celluloid, plastics, and laminated wood.
