Then entrance to the Ugbowo Campus of the University of Benin was barricaded for several hours today, following a protest by students of the pharmacy Department of the institution.

Best Mbiere reports that attempt by the school security to stop the news crew from recording the protest was rebuffed by the students.

Meanwhile, Authorities of University of Benin say it is doing everything possible to ensure that the academic calendar is not disrupted and that students are well taught.

Public Relations Officer, University of Benin, Michael Osasuyi gave his assurance while reacting to allegations by pharmacy students during their protest.

Mr. Osasuyi said the University pays salaries of staff as at when due adding that all issues raised during the protest by the Pharmacy students will be attended to.

Pharmacy students of University of Benin protested over alleged refusal by their lecturer to teach them over non-payment of their allowances.
