Boondocking (free camping without hookups) has saved us a TON on campground costs.

We started boondocking at the beginning of last year with only a generator and ONE lithium battery. No solar. No inverter.

By June, we realized that boondocking was definitely our “thing” and we started building out our off grid power system.

By the end of the year, we ended up with a massive solar system on our roof (thanks to SanTan Solar🙌🏼)

In 2021, our average monthly campground was $885. (we started RV life in August 2021 and stayed solely in paid campgrounds or Thousand Trails campgrounds with our camping pass August - December of 2021)

In 2022, our monthly average was $352. 🤯 That’s a savings of about $6,400 a year! This is due to utilizing free camping on public land. We stayed in paid campgrounds to be near specific attractions or family and when the weather was too hot and we want to run our A/C constantly.
