Philip S. Shapardanis, a resident of Westland, passed from this life on April 10, 2019, at the age of 91.

Philip was the beloved husband of Doris, and the loving father of Philip George (Bridget), Michael Svetko (Teresa), and Iris Karin (Jeffrey) Seria. He was the cherished grandfather of Angela (David) Shapardanis-White, Cassandra Shapardanis, Leah Shapardanis, Nancy Shapardanis, Alexandra (Jeffrey) Wolf, Steven Shapardanis, Karissa (Devin) Delozier, Amanda (Jared) Cook, Brittany (Joel) Skousen and Derek Seria. Philp was the devoted great-grandfather of Tomania, Corrinne, Mara, Ramona, Roran, Violet, Jonah, Theodore, Naomi and Elena. Philip was the dear brother of Elena (Boris) Opashinov.

Philp was born in Akritas, Greece where he lived until the age of 19. He loved sharing stories of his life there, especially the story of how he was sent on horseback at the age of 3 to invite the villagers to his sister's wedding. He moved to the United States at 19 and went back to school to learn English and obtain his G.E.D.

He had a rewarding career as a chef at the Ford Motor Company for 36 years, and while there he cooked for the Russian president in the Ford Penthouse (the Glass House). He enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts through the years and cooking for weddings. He was the secretary for the Macedonian "Bouf's Club" for many years in the Dearborn area.

Philip loved gardening, especially growing 'hot peppers' and his many fruit trees - cherry, peach and apple. He also loved spending time with grandchildren, taking them to Hines Park and back home to Greece.

Visitation for Philip will be on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at The Livonia Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 31460 Six Mile Road (at Merriman Road).
