European Union: What is the European Union: We explain it here
A MULTIDISCIPLINARY PLATFORM OF CHANGEMAKERS
For over two decades, the Group of Nations (aka, CAT Company Inc.) has built an unparalleled reputation for producing and distributing publications and events that bridge the gap between government policy and the global business community. We started in 1997 with our first official print edition to memorialize the agenda of the G8 Summit in Denver, United States.
Since then, our portfolio has evolved to include exclusive as well as official publications for the G20, B20, G20 YEA, and APEC summits. In 2020, we are excited to add W20 to our portfolio. In 2019, our partnership with the London School of Economics resulted in several stand-alone thought leadership reports focused on making the global financial system work for all. With the launch of our new brand and website in 2020, the Group of Nations (GON) has transformed into a multi-disciplinary platform for collaboration between the private sector/industry and policymakers.
The Group of Seven or G7 is an international intergovernmental economic organization consisting of the seven largest IMF- advanced economies in the world: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The G20, B20 W20, and G7 are where Global Governance opportunity starts.
Diverse, Resilient and Viable -
Stabilizing Economies and Societies Through Women's Empowerment
Women20 (W20) is an official G20 engagement group forming a transnational network of women’s organizations, female entrepreneurs associations, and think tanks. The main goal of Women20 is to promote women’s economic empowerment as an integral part of the G20 process. In a broad dialogue facilitated by digital tools, expert meetings, roundtables, and the final W20 Summit, W20 jointly formulates concrete recommendations to advance gender equality in G20 negotiations.
Diversity and full participation are essential for fostering resilient, sustainable, and viable economies and societies, whereas homogeneous systems bear risks and uncertainties. Women’s economic empowerment is thus fundamental for a prosperous world and essential for economic growth, stable economies, and social development.
The Women 20
The Women 20 (W20) is an official G20 engagement group established during the Turkish presidency in 2015.
It is a policy recommendation engagement group that is part of the G20 process but is independent of governments. In its functioning, it mirrors the G20 process.
Its primary objective is to ensure that the gender considerations are mainstreamed into G20 discussions and translate into the G20 Leaders' Declaration as policies and commitments that foster gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
How does it work
The W20 is formed of a transnational network of delegates representing non-government women’s organizations, civil society, female entrepreneurs, businesses, and think tanks across G20 member states.
Through a broad dialogue facilitated by digital tools, expert meetings, roundtables, and the final Summit, W20 delegates jointly formulate concrete actionable policy recommendations to advance gender equality in G20 negotiations. The W20 Communique reflects the engagement group's position with supporting evidence; while these recommendations are non-binding, they are considered by the G20 for its discussions and negotiations and contribute to the policymaking process.
Every year, the W20 develops and addresses the G20 Leaders a Communiqué which contains a series of actionable policy recommendations aimed at fostering gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in order to boost gender-inclusive economic growth for each and every country.
