The Nag Devta occupies a special place in Hinduism. The importance of Nag Devta can be gauged from the fact that the Panchami date of Shukla Paksha of the month of Sawan is entirely dedicated to the deity. This date is celebrated as Nag Panchami.
A fair is held in the day of Nag panchami in the day of Bhadrapad month (mid August-September ) and in the night of Ashwin Shukla Panchami. The fair is commonly known as Dhaulinagotsav.

Dhaulinag Temple is one such of 3 temples of Nag Devta which are famous in the whole country.

This temple is present in the Bageshwar district in the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand. It is known as Dhaulinag Temple. This Nag Devta is worshiped daily with full legal practice. There are several Nag Devta temples located in this area.

A 22 feet long Mashaal is carried by Members of Dhapola clan/family from Dhapolasera (A village in Bageshwar district) to Dhaulinag Temple on this night.
