Join me on a journey to Alloway, a peaceful village near Ayr — the birthplace of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national treasure.

Although I’ve visited Ayr many times before, this is my first time in Alloway, and this trip changed how I see this part of Scotland.

In this video, I’ll explore the Burns Birthplace Museum, the Burns Monument and Gardens, the Brig o’ Doon, and the old kirkyard, where Robert’s father, William Burnes, rests.
You’ll also see the striking wicker sculpture of Tam o’ Shanter and his horse Meg, created for Burns’ 250th birthday.

Growing up in the Soviet Union, I learned Burns’ poems in Russian translation.
Now, living in Scotland, I finally walk the same paths where his story began — the story of a poet whose words gave a voice to an entire nation.
