Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel, programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a Kawai Sprite soundtrack and artwork by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r.
The game was originally created for Ludum Dare 47, a game jam event with the theme "Stuck in a Loop". The Friday Night Funkin' version, which will now be known as the prototype, will be released on October 5, 2020, the last day of the jam for submissions. The current version of the game was released on Newgrounds the same way as on November 1, 2020. It can also be played on Itch.io . On the page Itch.io It can also be downloaded for Windows, Mac OS and Linux devices for free or with an additional donation.
Friday Night Funkin' is drawn and animated in a way that nostalgically presents Newgrounds flash animation with an artistic style inspired by graffiti street art. There are several weeks in the game when the player faces various opponents with multiple songs.
The full version of the game, called Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game, as part of a Kickstarter campaign, has raised about two million dollars and is currently in development.
