The owner of a 2015 Audi A3 came in for diagnostics, complaining about a strange noise that appeared while driving — usually at speeds above 80 km/h. The sound resembled a rolling or humming noise, which typically indicates a wheel bearing issue.

After a test drive and inspection, we confirmed that the rear right wheel bearing was the source of the noise. In this video, we’ll replace it step by step.

The Audi A3 uses an integrated hub bearing assembly, meaning the bearing cannot be pressed out separately — the entire unit must be replaced. This makes the process fairly quick and straightforward: remove the wheel, brake components, and one main hub bolt.

We’ll also show how to check the ABS magnetic encoder ring on the new bearing using a special diagnostic tester, which helps verify the integrity of the magnetic segments before installation.
