Stevie Wonder – Master Blaster | Funky Reggae Bass Cover

Here’s my bass cover of Stevie Wonder’s "Master Blaster," a track full of energy and groove. For this cover, I brought a funky reggae twist to the bassline, using muted tones to allow more space for the drums and Stevie’s lead vocals. I kept the first bit free, following the reggae tradition of not overplaying and focusing on supporting the groove instead of filling it with too many notes.

The unison riff can be tricky, so I split it into 3 parts, making it easier to play on the bass neck. Though I lost the groove a bit in the middle, the rest of the take felt right, so I decided to keep it as is. Overall, the bassline complements the lead and rhythm sections with a grounded, rhythmic feel.
