Fullabrook Down

Описание к видео Fullabrook Down

Fullabrook Down Wind Farm lies high above Braunton, in North Devon. Its 22 turbines are capable of generating up to 66 megawatts of electricity.

A Community Interest Company, detached from the station's owners, distributes grants to good causes in the surrounding area.

"The Fund started with £1 million when the wind farm began generating electricity in 2011, and a further annual payment of £100,000 is received from Devon Wind Power (now owned by ESB Energy) each year that the wind farm generates power. From formation to the end of 2022, Fullabrook CIC has given 478 grants and invested £1,562,203 in the local community."

It would be wonderful to think of the strength of the wind powering electric trains on a complete North Devon railway network.

The scout took it that the three turbines which were down had failed, but they may have been undergoing routine maintenance.
