Coleman-Mach (Airxcel) Soft Start Kit Installation

This video covers the installation of two Coleman-Mach brand aftermarket soft start kits on our 48000 series Coleman-Mach AC and Heat Pump. We selected this soft start kit specifically because it was designed by Airexcel specifically for their units and the installation would not void the factory warranty. It was also slightly less expensive than the other soft start options on the market when we purchased ours.

Success!! That's all I can say about this install. Living in the south, it has opened up Harvest Host and boondocking options (where use of a generator is allowed) that we didn't have before. We can easily run 2 AC units to cool the RV. We have 800 watts of solar and 200 Amp hrs of lithium battery, so our residential fridge and all the other DC powered items in the RV work great with this arrangement. Once the RV is cooled down we can cut back to one AC running at a time and also run the converter to make sure the batteries are fully charged as the sun sets.

It's super simple and easy to make. If your RV is relatively new, having this plug is a must to get your generator to power your camper.

Disclaimer: This isn't for the faint of heart. You will be snipping connectors off of the existing wiring on your AC or Heat Pump units so please hire a qualified professional if you aren't comfortable doing this type of work on your RV. Please make sure you select the correct model number from your unit and match up the wiring based on the wiring schematic for each unit as found inside the wiring box with the appropriate wiring schematic in the manual.
