Kokanee & Trout. Fishing Stump lake Merritt BC. Wigglefin Swarm trial. Lake test PT.1

In today's episode, we visit the lake in search of kokanee and trout. The Wigglefin swarm flasher had been on my radar, so we put it to the LAKE test.

The swarm assembly is attached to the fin end of the down rigger ball. I set my release clip 5 to 10 ft above the swarm and let out 5 to 10 ft of line as a setback.

The idea is to utilize the swarms' ability to attract fish, so it's ideal to have your lure in close proximity.

The other set up, we had the typical kokanee assembly. Let out 70 to 100 feet as set back, no swarm.

We trolled at 1.35-1.7 mph using various lures behind a Teton tackle teardrop and Gibbs Delta skateboard dodger.
The business ends were mini pink micro hoochies and shrimps.


I've found the best fishing is often in the early morning and late evening.

As per region 3 Thompson-Nicola fishing synopsis, an angler is allowed 5 trout and 5 kokanee as a daily limit with a 2 day possession limit.

Fish caught was in the range of 1-3lbs for kokanee and trout.

Results

It works! The goal was to catch fish and that it did. Although there's a couple of things that make me ponder.

Why was I catching more trout than kokanee?
Was it effective?
Was it necessary?
Will they work in the ocean?
