In the February 2025 issue of Gun Tests Magazine, our test team shooters, led by Contributing Editor Robert Sadowski, fired three higher-capacity 380 ACP pistols.

The three handguns in this match-up are a Bersa Thunder 380 variant named the Combat Plus, an EAA Girsan MC 14T, and a re-introduced Glock G28. Here's a quick look at each one:

In hand, the Bersa Thunder is compact, yet the grip is large enough to wrap all three fingers around it, and it holds a 15-round flush-fit magazine.

The Bersa Thunder 380 Combat Plus is a lightweight, compact pistol well suited for concealed carry. The double-action trigger is smooth, and accuracy is good. It has plenty of capacity, but only one magazine.

The Bersa’s slide stop and decocker are sized right for easy manipulation with the thumb of the shooting hand, provided you shoot right handed.

We liked the Bersa’s serrated trigger, especially when running drills. The wraparound rubber grip provides plenty of texture and a good gripping surface.

In hand, the EAA Girsan offers a longer grip and a finger rest on the magazine floor plate, so the pistol is easy to grasp and control.

The Girsan knock-off of the Beretta 86 is unusual due to the tip-up barrel, which makes loading and firing the gun easy, especially for those who find racking the slide difficult to manage.

The Girsan’s wide magwell and tapered magazine work well together, offering a slick and fast reload.

The Girsan’s trigger face is smooth and the front grip strap is serrated for more texture and control.

The defensive shooting drill showed the Girsan had plenty of performance. Punching the center-of-mass A-zone was quick and easy to accomplish

In hand, we found the grip on the Glock to be short. Only two fingers can grip the pistol. Also, the magazine only holds 10 rounds.

There’s nothing innovative about this Gen3 Glock, but it is reliable. Recoil was soft, and the pistol was accurate.

The wide opening of the Glock magazine well and the tapered magazine made inserting the magazine easy. The hard part was ensuring the magazine was seated properly.

The G28 is built with Gen3 features, such as a finger groove front grip strap. The slide stop is minimal and works well.

The small but fat grip of the G28 fills your hand but has no shelf for your small finger. Curling your small finger under the flush-fit magazine is a good technique for this pistol.
