Through the German funded PEACECORE project by GIZ, 12 psychologists trained 28 lay helpers to support children experiencing trauma in 3 LGAs across Plateau State. Using the Trauma Processing Approach (TPA), they worked one-on-one with 112 children from both farmer and herder communities over two cycles.
The children were identified using the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) in English and Hausa, followed by 10 trauma processing sessions focused on self-soothing and targeted play. Pre- and post-assessments with parents and caregivers helped track progress.
