Over the past six years I have used at least a dozen different types and brands of clear coats on my lures. Everything from plastic dissolved in solvent to concrete floor sealer to five minute epoxies. If you have seen it or know about it, its likely I have tested it. Pretty much everything I tried was workable but, I was looking for the perfect combination of: hard, clear, glossy, fast setting, easy to store, easy to apply and forgiving of imperfect surfaces. Well, this is the best yet: Crystal Clear from East Coast Resins. Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer the UV clear epoxy. But, I want an alternative to the UV cure resins when I’m finishing large lures because there’s a pretty good cost savings with catalyzed resins vs UV cure.
