As the daughter of an Indigenous man, giving a voice and bringing attention to issues and social injustices within the Native American community is personal for me. I hope my coverage can bring about awareness and change for Indigenous people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and across Texas.

This video is a compilation of some of my Native American stories at CBS News Texas over the past year. The reports include:

1) Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women: I profile a Fort Worth case and talk to the distraught mother of a missing teen. MMIW Texas Rematriate provides context for the issue plaguing Native American communities.
2) Beyond Bows and Arrows: Texas' longest running American Indian radio show brings North Texas Indigenous people together.
3) Reclaiming Their Heritage: Two Indigenous sisters open up their own thrift store on White Settlement Road. A historian details the racism and forced assimilation in White Settlement, Texas.
4) A Cross for Emily Pike: A Mineral Wells man, who is part Native American, welds a 25-foot tall cross for Emily Pike, an Apache teen who was murdered and dismembered.
5) Texas Native Health: The program run by the federal government gets a new building to provide more health and social services to the Indigenous population.
