During World War II Rotterdam was heavily bombed which caused most of the city center being destroyed. After the war Rotterdam didn’t sit still, but over the years they created one of the most beautiful skylines of The Netherlands. Nowadays Rotterdam is nicknamed Manhattan aan de Maas (Manhattan on the Meuse) because of its many skyscrapers. And i’ve got to say, Rotterdam definitely has a gorgeous skyline.

▪️Old
Even though Rotterdam was hit hard during World War II, not everything was destroyed. Het Witte Huis (the White House), City Hall, St. Lawrence Church (although damaged, it was restored) are a few old buildings that have survived and they are definitely worth a visit. Especially the City Hall is a gorgeous building in my opinion.

▪️Favs & Tips
My favorites in Rotterdam were Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen (the big shiny thing), White House, City Hall and Markthal. I know the Cube houses are very popular too, that’s where I probably spotted the most tourists. The sights are all in pretty walkable distance from each other, but if you don’t want to walk, don’t worry. Rotterdam has a metro system, trams and even water taxis.
