Taormina is beautiful. It's won many awards for the most scenic and picturesque town in Italy. It is perched high on a mountain for breathtaking views of the sea, magnificent architecture, and incredible culture. Its a tourist's paradise that is not yet completely overrun with tourists. I strongly recommend visiting. You can hike up from the train station it the foot of the mountain, but it's pretty steep and gravelly. I took a taxi from the station to the city.
