A seven-year-old girl was picked up while asleep by three youths, two of who are her neighbours, and raped on Sunday night in east Delhi's Mandavali area, police said on Monday. The girl has been hospitalised.

According to police, the incident occurred on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

"The girl was sleeping in the fields in the floodplains of Yamuna river when the three persons took her to another field and raped her," a senior police officer told IANS.
