In the heart of rural India, where opportunities are few but dreams run deep, Ankush Poonia is rewriting the script of success. A decorated discus throw coach and mentor to medal-winning athletes in national and international arenas—including the Olympics—Poonia is the guiding light for young talent in shot put and discus throw.

Five years ago, he founded the Ankush Throwers' Academy in his village Tanda Sakauti, Meerut (U.P.), with the support of the district athletics association. Despite limited resources, he turned railway platforms, open fields, and village landscapes into training grounds for aspiring athletes.

From makeshift setups to organizing the first-ever prize money Shotput Competition in his village, Poonia’s dedication has attracted attention from across states and earned praise from the sporting fraternity.
