Will the Singapore Government consider delaying the increase in GST? DPM Lawrence Wong responds

At a news conference on Tuesday (Jun 21) announcing a S$1.5 billion support package for Singaporeans amid rising prices, DPM Lawrence Wong was asked if the government will consider delaying the planned GST hike. He said the GST increase was pushed back to as late as possible and that there will be a "very generous offset package" in place. "Essentially for the majority of Singaporean households, they will not feel the impact of the GST increase for at least five years. For the lower-income groups, they will not feel the impact for 10 years," he said.
