Today, detectives were there to meet 55-year-old Joseph Kinney when he showed up for his latest job interview for a nursing position.

The problem is, Joseph Kinney is not licensed to be a nurse in Florida.
Kinney, whose nursing license was revoked in 2022, has been using another person's identity to apply for multiple nursing positions around Central Florida.

After a nurse hiring manager contacted Sheriff Chitwood about Kinney's suspicious applications, detectives opened an investigation, posed as Kinney's hiring coordinator and set up a job interview for this afternoon.

On arrival, he was taken into custody without incident. It's believed Kinney, who lives in Lake Mary, has applied for 10 to 15 nursing jobs using the same fraudulent ID and nursing license. He was hired for two positions in Seminole and Orange counties, working at each for less than a week.

The VSO investigation found Kinney has previously held nursing licenses in Alabama, California, and Florida, with discipline for repeated incidents including diverting drugs from his employer, driving under the influence of drugs, providing false information, and unprofessional conduct.

Kinney is charged with 2 counts of practicing health care without a license. Florida law prohibits even attempting or offering to practice a health care profession without a license.

The Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services was present for today's arrest and is assisting in the follow-up investigation.
