Tuning Primary and Secondary for DRSSTC

Описание к видео Tuning Primary and Secondary for DRSSTC

Using a variable frequency signal generator to quickly find the resonant frequencies for primary and secondary. This approach was first described in follytowers video and works very well.

arrangements is the same. The 10k resistor between the positive output of the signal generator and the primary coil allows energy to be trickled into the system. The energy in the tank is scoped between the negative of the signal generator and the connection point between the 10k resistor and the primary coil. Then the maximum sine wave amplitude is found, that is your resonant frequency. You will also see lower amplitude harmonics as you slowly vary the frequency. Please ignore these.. To calculate the size of your primary capacitor bank, it depends on the size of your primary coil and secondary coil, the number of turns on your secondary and diameter of the secondary coil and primary former, the size of the top load etc. It’s best to use the free website JavaTC to get approximate values. Or you could just do trial and error with different capacitor values. Start with 50nf film cap and work up in increments of 50 and change the tap point of your primary until you find your desired frequency.
