The Ontario Lady Warriors punched their ticket on another MOAC victory tonight with a hard-fought 9–5 win over the Shelby Lady Whippets.
Ontario came out swinging, building a 3–0 lead by the end of the second inning, thanks to aggressive baserunning and timely contact at the plate. But, Shelby wasn’t going down easy. The Lady Whippets roared back in the third inning, exploding for five runs to grab a 5–4 lead and electrify their dugout.
From there, it turned into a grind. Both teams held each other scoreless through the fourth, but Ontario was virtually unstoppable at the plate. The Lady Warriors racked up 16 total hits on the night—including three home runs—which ultimately made the difference for them.
A major difference-maker was junior Morgan Pearson, who stepped into the circle midway through the game and delivered under pressure. Pearson not only held Shelby scoreless down the stretch with sharp pitching, but also contributed at the plate with a home run and in the field with several key plays that helped seal the win.
With the victory, Ontario is one step closer to the MOAC title—but the rivalry isn’t done yet. These two teams are set to square off again tomorrow in a rematch.
