Ananga & Jo’s Vow - ‘We’ll stand by each other’

Описание к видео Ananga & Jo’s Vow - ‘We’ll stand by each other’

Shining a light on the everyday struggles of living with dementia we’re sharing the story of Ananga - a former radar specialist with the RAF – and Jo Moonesinghe, who committed to stand by each other in sickness and in health in 1974. Ananga and Jo have two children and five grandchildren. Ananga was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in August 2019 and started receiving help from Alzheimer’s Society shortly after from our Dementia Advisers and community support groups.

Jo says “We renewed our vows to each other by saying that we will always be there for each other. Ananga added “We’ll stand by each other.”

What is dementia?
‘Dementia’ describes a group of symptoms that include problems with memory, thinking or language, and changes in mood, emotions, perception and behaviour. Dementia is a progressive disease, which means symptoms may be relatively mild at first, but they get worse over time. There are many types of dementia but Alzheimer’s disease is the most common. The next most common is vascular dementia.
