ATALAIA é uma localidade do concelho do Montijo, distrito de Setúbal.
ATALAIA surge associada ao concelho de Nossa Senhora de Sabonha, antes de 1515, data que o rei D.Manuel I, atribuiu foral á Aldeia Galega (actual Montijo), criando novo concelho, que passou a integrar a ATALAIA.
O culto a Nossa Senhora da Atalaia tem origem numa lendária aparição da Virgem. Nos inícios do século XVI, o culto à Virgem da Atalaia era já bastante importante, a ponto de os oficiais das alfândegas se obrigarem a fazer uma romaria anual logo em 1507.
Quinta Nova da Atalaia, pertenceu à família Santos Fernandes. Em 1997 foi doada à Câmara Municipal de Montijo e transformada no MUSEU AGRÍCOLA.

ATALAIA is a village in the municipality of Montijo, district of Setúbal.
ATALAIA was associated with the municipality of Nossa Senhora de Sabonha before 1515, when King Manuel I granted a charter to Aldeia Galega (current Montijo), creating a new municipality that became part of ATALAIA.
The cult of Nossa Senhora da Atalaia has its origins in a legendary apparition of the Virgin. At the beginning of the 16th century, the cult of the Virgin of Atalaia was already quite important, to the point that customs officials were obliged to make an annual pilgrimage as early as 1507.
Quinta Nova da Atalaia belonged to the Santos Fernandes family. In 1997 it was donated to the Montijo City Council and transformed into the AGRICULTURAL MUSEUM.
