Iconic Abandoned Buntings Lodge - Assateague Island National Seashore Maryland

Описание к видео Iconic Abandoned Buntings Lodge - Assateague Island National Seashore Maryland

Buntings Lodge is the most photographed, mainly because of the history and how accessible it is to get to. This is the only video I will say where the lodge is so you can visit and see the history of the lodge for yourself.

Originally built in 1942, this 1,785 sqft lodge served as a waterfowl hunting business, at times employing up to 5 people. This lodge shows visible paint from the African Queen ship wreck and has various cars around the house.

Like my other videos on the old lodges, we try to show as much as we can to preserve the history of Assateague. At Buntings, we noticed new security cameras installed and couldn't make it into the lodge. Please don't try to enter the lodge!

Thanks as always for watching.

If looking for the lodges, I highly recommend winter as the time to explore. The massive Assateague mosquitos are gone as well as large black snakes and other animals.

While there may be a few lodges on the VA side, all the lodges we visit are on the MD side of the island. If you decide to research the island, it's a deep rabbit hole to go down. From past presidential visits and ship wreck of a presidential yacht, to hotels and future communities trying to be built, the history is long and will keep you digging for more.
