Sky News contributor Joe Hildebrand says the government changing its stance on the stage three tax cuts is “still a broken promise” as reports suggest negative gearing would be the next to be reformed.

Mr Hildebrand joined Sky News host Caleb Bond to discuss the possibility of the government changing negative gearing after it amended the stage three tax cuts.

“I obviously cautioned against removing or backflipping on stage three and they did that,” Mr Hildebrand said.

“Negative gearing is different for a couple of reasons – scrapping the negative gearing changes was something that Labor came up with of its own accord.

“The second thing is in 2019 there was a housing affordability crisis, now the rental crisis is much, much worse than that.”
