Champion Lodgepole Pine Trail - A few weeks ago we walked up early to check out this pretty amazing trail. It’s a must-see if you go to Big Bear. It is located on the south side of Big Bear Lake. From the Aspen Glen Picnic Area, took us around 30 minutes(video speeded up a little), on a truck( off road vehicle suggested) to where we parked, and another 15 minutes easy walking to the heavenly meadow where this Lodgepole Pine sits. With an age estimated at 460 years( began to germinate in the year 1560) is a magnificent, double-topped tree with a height of 110+ feet. The circumference of the trunk at the bottom is 22 feet, however the bulbous base is 36 feet in circumference. This trail is great for the whole family, a pretty comfortable and easy half mile walk. It was an amazing experience to see this gift of Mother Nature!

Unas semanas atras madrugamos para checkear este recorrido increíble. Es una visita obligada si vas a Big Bear. El Champion Lodgepole Pine Trail está ubicado en el lado sur de Big Bear Lake. Desde Aspen Glen Picnic Area, nos llevó alrededor de 30 minutos (el video esta acelerado), en una camioneta (se sugiere vehículo todoterreno) a donde estacionamos, y otros 15 minutos caminando al prado celestial donde se encuentra este Lodgepole Pine. Con una edad estimada en 460 años (comenzó a germinar en el año 1560) es un magnífico árbol de doble copa con una altura de más de 110 pies. La circunferencia del tronco en la parte inferior es de 22 pies, sin embargo, la base bulbosa tiene 36 pies de circunferencia. Este sendero es ideal para toda la familia, una caminada de media milla bastante cómoda y fácil. ¡Fue una experiencia increíble ver este regalo de la Madre Naturaleza!
