SOLD The station wagon, for many years, was the ultimate expression of suburban family life. Parents would pack up the kids and the gear, and set out on the great American highway to exotic destinations like Disney World and Gatlinburg, having arguments and fistfights along the way. The quintessential American experience was to be a kid in the rearward facing back seats, watching the world go by.

That all changed with the gas crisis, the advent of the minivan, and the need for women to look like anything other than their mothers, hoping instead to be mistaken for wildlife photographers or general contractors based on their choice of vehicle.

The good news is that dedicated wagon enthusiasts are still out there, and have helped the family wagon make a comeback on the collector car scene. Because so many of these wagons were driven hard and used up, finding nice examples isn't that easy, and demand far outpaces supply.

Additionally, car makers are seeing a comeback in the wagon market, as they get to charge more for them without much additional build cost, and people are getting tired of the very bad fuel mileage inherent to many SUVs. Buick's new Regal wagon is both attractive and a bold move, and other makers will be watching to see how it performs on the market. There may come a time in the near future where we see a lot more wagons on the road.

This is a 1989 Buick Electra Estate Wagon, with full documentation and in great shape all around. SOLD
