Is your Vortec 5.3 reading LOW OIL PRESSURE? Well, mine did too, and here's what I found:
The previous owner had replaced the oil pump recently (with receipts to prove). So, I replaced the oil pressure sensor (sending unit, also called a switch) and the oil screen. That didn't do the trick. I had no leaks, no smoke, no signs of anything being wrong.
The next logical thought would be that something is ether loose, or wrong. So I went out and got a new filter (AC Delco PF48E) and did a proper oil change. Once everything was done, the problem was fixed!
As you can see in the video, the previous owner put the wrong oil filter on the truck - sometimes things as simple as that can cause sensors to fly off the handle.
