Das „ChoreoLab - Made in Ulm“ präsentiert im Jahr 2020 passend zum Ulmer Berblinger-Jahr „249 choreographic failures“ („249 choreografische Misserfolge“).
Die drei ausgewählten Choreografen waren Aina Lanas (Spanien), Pablo Girolami (Italien) und Axel Loubette (Frankreich). Sie haben in einer intensiven Probenphase im Juli und August 2020 im ROXY mit dem Ulmer Choreografen Pablo Sansalvador (Moving Rhizomes) zusammengearbeitet und jeweils ein 15-minütiges Werk für den „249 Choreographic Failures“-Tanzabend geschaffen.

When I first heard the formula 'How can we dance failure without getting into a double failure, in the sense that dancers would not really fail?' I wanted to create an aesthetic and a demand for failure in order to promote the idea of resilience through failure. The Choreography is written with movements that consist of a stumbling and shapeless vocabulary. During the performance, the dancers are given more demanding tasks, so that real mistakes have to occur about 62.25 times. Only when they master these tasks, success can be achieved by a better failure.

This year's "ChoreoLab - Made in Ulm" presents "249 choreographic failures" ("249 choreographic failures") in keeping with the Ulm Berblinger2020, 250th anniversary year.

The international call for applications for the ChoreoLab at ROXY received 45 different applications from 24 countries. The dancers and choreographers submitted a 60-second dance film that documented a "choreographic failure". A jury consisting of Karla Nieraad (director of the Stadthaus), Reiner Feistel (ballet director of the Theater Ulm), Tommi Brem (freelance artist and stage designer) and Michael Mutschler (ROXY Ulm) selected ten finalists and three winners from all submissions.

The three selected choreographers are Aina Lanas (Spain), Pablo Girolami (Italy) and Axel Loubette (France). They will work together with the Ulm choreographer Pablo Sansalvador (Moving Rhizomes) in an intensive rehearsal phase in July and August at ROXY and will each create a 15-minute work for the "249 Choreographic Failures" dance evening.
