Five useful tips for urban sketching & drawing buildings

I'm just back from a few day holiday in Dartmouth - and whilst there I was inspired to try and draw some of its interesting old buildings. I learned a lot in the first few attempts - hopefully you'll find the information useful too. To summarise...

1) Think of the underlying, three-dimensional structure
2) Measure - as foreshortened buildings can be very deceptive
3) You can play around with you perspective guides for dramatic effect
4) What to leave in and what to leave out
5) Think about how the object was built - and what happened to it after
