🌱 Part 1: Define & Engage We start by activating prior knowledge and defining key terms like conservation, sustainability, and restoration. You’ll see how to use visual analysis to explain how native planting helps pollinators and how waste management uses chemistry to reduce landfill trash.
🔍 Part 2: Real-World Case Studies I’ll show you how to guide students through investigating actual community projects, such as the "Soda Creek" outdoor classroom restoration or using rain barrels to conserve water. We discuss how to teach students to identify the specific scientific system involved, whether it is the Water Cycle or the ecosystem's food web.
📊 Part 3: Data Literacy for Kids Learn how to teach students to interpret graphs by analyzing resource usage trends from 2020 to 2024. We focus on teaching students that a downward trend in resource usage is actually a positive impact story.
