Making Clear Window Clings with the DigitalHeat FX System

Making custom window cling films in full color with the DigitalHeat FX system is not only fun but can be very profitable.

Here we go through the process and show you best practices for getting you designs to pop and stand out the best.

You can cut out and make custom window cling films with a Cricut or Silhouette cutter, but for the best print results, you’ll want to consider picking up a Digital Heat FX system.

This is a white toner printing system, that has CMY+W toners in it. That means it prints full color and white all in one pass. It traditionally is used to create transfers for t-shirts. But this system is much more versatile than that!

However, this system does not include cutting capabilities. The Cricut or Silhouette cutters can make the custom window cling films once they have been printed.

The DigitalHeat FX System comes in different models to fit your business needs. The Crio 8432 White Toner printer is what we used in this video. It can print on a transfer size of 11 x 17.

After you set up the print mode for these sheets in your Print Optimizer software all you have to do is load the paper and print.

The shiny shine of your cling sheets in the print side, so you will want this side facing up in the printer. It's good practice to take a little break in between each print. This is because the fuser of your DigitalHeat FX printer will heat up and it can melt the cling a little bit causing problems.
