At the Güntner IMPACT Summit 2025 in Bali, Mr. Katsuhiko Harada—President of Nihon Netsugen Systems and a proud recipient of the Forbes Japan Small Giants Awards 2024—shared how his company has helped push CO₂ refrigeration to the forefront of sustainable cooling in Japan and across East Asia.

CO₂ refrigeration isn’t only about reducing environmental impact. In real-world installations across Japan and Southeast Asia, including tropical climates, these systems have delivered tangible performance gains—often achieving 20–40% energy savings compared with legacy R22 solutions. Harada-san walked through a decade-long journey of bringing CO₂ technology from northern Japan to the south, and expanding into markets such as Malaysia and the Philippines.

The presentation highlights Nihon Netsugen’s “Super Green” system: energy-efficient cold storage solutions covering -25°C to +10°C, a compact design ideal for replacement projects, and integrated features that make installation and commissioning easier. He also introduced gas coolers engineered to meet high resistance standards and the demands of modern refrigeration applications.
