The shielded T-34 is one of the projects to strengthen the armor protection of serial T-34 tanks. This shielding option was developed by employees of NII-48 and plant No. 112 under the general supervision of I. Burtsev. During field and military tests, this shielding option showed good results against 37-mm and 50-mm anti-tank guns, but turned out to be ineffective against armor-piercing 88-mm and 75-mm shells. The prototypes were sent to the front, where they were lost in battle.
